Welcome to B & B Tobacconists

B&B Tobacconists originally started as Bruce's Pipe Shop in a small retail space at the corner of Merrimon and Edgewood. Founded by Bruce Barnes, who was seeking fulfillment after retiring from 30  years in radio sales, the shop opened its doors to offer pipes, pipe tobacco, and cigars from General Cigar Company, with J.C. Newman joining shortly thereafter. In 1984, the shop moved to its location on Merrimon Ave, and Bruce managed it until his passing in 1991, after which his wife, Doris, took over for nine years until she fell ill. Her son, David, stepped in to care for her and run the shop, and in May 2001, he partnered with Mike Booher. Although Mike has since left the partnership, he remains a regular advisor. In 2016 Charlie Davis came in from the rooftops and began working along side David. In 2019 David decided to hand over the reigns to Charlie who's kept the shop moving forward.  We invite you to become part of our story and enjoy a seat on the "Liars' Bench."  Join us in our new chapter of our history at our location, which is another 120 year old house like our old location, on Hendersonville Road in south Asheville.
